Chardham Yatra Tour Packages

Some of Hinduism's most prominent shrines, also known as Chota Chardham, are located in Uttarakhand's Garhwal region, specifically high in the Garhwali Himalayas. They include Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. The temples here, which symbolise the spiritual origins of the religion's four sacred rivers - Ganga, Yamuna, Alaknanda, and Mandakini - form one of the country's most important pilgrimage circuits and is commonly refered to as Char Dham Yatra Travel Packages. Thousands of worshippers opt for the Char Dham Tour packages between April and November each year, braving the severe weather and difficult mountain roads and treks to get there. In the eighth century, Adi Shankaracharya, a great philosopher and reformer, gathered all of these pilgrimages into a spiritual circuit that was followed by generations after generations, perpetuating the annual custom of pilgrimage.

You would normally be engaged between April and early November on a Chardham excursion. Every year, the Uttarakhand government publishes the dates for the Chardham circuit's opening and closing, setting off the process of reserving a chardham yatra tour package with several OTAs. The deities at each of these temples are relocated to their winter abodes throughout the winter months. Kedarnath is served by Ukhimath, Badrinath by Joshimath, Gangotri by Mukhba, and Yamunotri by Kharsali. The doors to these winter hide aways are open all year and can be accessed whenever you choose.

Places to visit in Chardham

Kedarnath

Kedarnath is surrounded by icy Himalayan peaks and is near to the Mandakini River's source, the Chorabari Glacier. It is located at an elevation of 11,755 feet, with Gaurikund being the nearest roadhead to Kedarnath, at a distance of around 14 kilometres and is one of the most important parts of chardham yatra. The place has a mythological connection with Mahabharata, when the Pandavas requested mercy from Lord Shiva after conquering the Kauravas. Shiva, on the other hand, refused to forgive them, making the Pandavas even more determined to seek atonement. In order to avoid them, Shiva transformed like a bull and came to Earth. In his haste, he abandoned his hump in Kedarnath, near the Chorabari Glacier, which is marked by an Adi Shankaracharya shrine from the eighth century.

Badrinath

Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is located at the base of the pyramid-shaped, snow-capped Nilkantha hill. It is also one of Chardham's most easily accessible temples, having been founded by Guru Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. The temple, on the other hand, has been renovated and restored over ages. The Badrinayaran statue was discovered in the Alakananda River by Adi Shankaracharya, who built the original Badrinath Temple. The current temple, with its exquisite sculptures, stone inlays, and pillars, was built by the King of Garhwal in the 16th century, giving it the look of a Buddhist Vihara. Todays, there are options to see these temples through chardham tour package by helicopter. According to legend, Lord Shiva pondered here for many years while Goddess Lakshmi provided shade in the shape of a Badri tree, which gave the location its name. Many people plan their yearly Chardham pilgrimage around Mahashivaratri, when the rituals bring life and hue to the shrines.

Gangotri

The Gangotri Temple is one of the country's holiest sites, partly because it is the source of the Ganges, the most venerated Hindu river. The boulder on the spot, according to legend, functioned as a cushion to protect the earth from the mayhem that the river could have wreaked as it flowed out of Shiva's matted locks in heaven. The Gangotri Temple was established in the 18th century by a Gorkha commander named Amar Singh Thapa. At an elevation of 10,170 feet, Gangotri is located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, which is known as Bhagirathi until it reaches Devprayag, where it merges with the Alakananda to form the Ganges. The Gangotri Temple opens around Akshay Tritiya in May and closes around Bhai Duj in late October or early November.

Yamunotri

The Yamunotri Temple was constructed in the 19th century near the Yamuna River's source. A rural settlement called Janki Chatti is about a 5-kilometer hike from the temple. The hot springs around Yamunotri, however, remain the temple's high point, where rice is cooked and turned into prasad, which is distributed to pilgrims. Many shrines, temples, and ashrams surround the Yamunotri Temple, which you can visit to soak in the sacred aura of one of Chardham's most attractive places.

Best time to visit Chardham

Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are part of the Chota Chardham circuit, which was established by Adi Shankaracharya in the eighth century. The months of April to the first part of June are great for visiting Chardham since the weather are pleasant, allowing you to explore the area and travel without suffering chilly feet or chattering teeth. Avoid Chardham during the rainy season, which runs from June to September and is prone to landslides.
